Bedke Feedlot Oakley Idaho
This is one of the cleanest, well maintained feedlots in Idaho. The feedlot is located on 256 acres with a CAFO permit for 14,400 animal units under Cassia county ordinance. The permit will allow for 18,000 Holstein heifers 400# to Springers. The facility has 12,700 feet of concrete manger and cable neck rail. Mangers posts are 2 7/8" drilling pipe on 10' centers and will support lockups for dairy heifers. Feedlot has ample water to operate at the permitted capacity with 72.8 acre feet stock water and a 1953 priority date.
The climate and feed supply for this facility is excellent. This feedlot has an excellent source of potato and french fry waste from local potato processors. The area has an average precipitation of 11.0", 70% of which is during the winter months. The slope of the corrals is ideal and the run off containment ponds are very well laid out. The runoff containment meets or exceeds all E.P.A. and Idaho Department of Agriculture corral and feed storage containment requirements.
Facility:
The feedlot has an excellent enclosed processing barn with a hydraulic chute and circular tub. Great for processing cattle in the winter. There are three loading chutes in different areas of the lot to make cattle handling convenient. There is a heavy duty 100,000 lb cattle scale with sorting pens.
The feed area has plenty of asphalt with six asphalt bottomed slurry or silage pits. There is a 60' x 100' open ended metal building for grain and commodity storage and a 60' x 100' open ended metal building for storing and working on equipment. The feed mill has 2 roller / crack mills, 2 - 12,000 bushel coned grain storage bins, 2 - 1,200 bushel coned bins. Grain handling facility with an unloading pit with a 4,000 bushel per hour leg and grain scalper.
50' x 50' insulated heated shop.
40 acre composting yard.
Can easily build corrals for a maximum permitted capacity of 18,000 head.
Housing:
There are three single wide manufactured houses for employees, 2 double wide manufactured homes (one currently being used for an office). Very nice stick built multipurpose building with a kitchen. Landscaping along the road frontage of feedlot creates a very nice appearance for the facility.
